Where do I start - Choosing a turf:

After answering two simple questions you will know which type is best for you
1. Will you be hitting longer shots into your green - over 30 yards?
2. Is your green going to be mostly for putting and chipping?

In this segment we will tell you all about important factors that will help you to make the correct decision. There are two basic types of materials available in the market today:

Sand filled VS nylon

Sand filled greens

This material can be installed on aggregate or on concrete. The material used for these greens is called polypropylene, just another word for plastic. The fibres do not have memory built into them and can not stand up by themselves. To get these fibres to stand upright you have to add between 7-12 pounds of fine silica sand to keep them in position. As you can appreciate, this amount of sand will blow, wash or shift and sand filled greens do require some maintenance.

Nylon - Non sand filled putting greens:

Nylon turf can be installed on both aggregate base and concrete base. Nylon putting surface has memory burned into it and therefore the fibres stand up by themselves. Since these fibres stand independently you only need to add a small amount of our exclusive ceramic top dressing. You only add the ceramic if you feel the need to speed your green up or if you are going to hit longer chips into your green. Our exclusive nylon NP 50 will, in most cases, not need any infill as our roll out speed is 10.- 11 on the stimp meter.

Which one of the two materials will work for me?

You have two options:

1. Call the Garden Golf Greens Support Team on our  number 0494552925 and ask away or,
2. Do the following exercise:

How long is the longest chip I am hitting to my green?

If it is longer than 30 yards you will be best served by or the Polypropylene PP75 deep sand filled as these materials are designed and developed to receive shots from a longer distance.

If it is 30 yards or shorter you will be best served by choosing our Nylon NP 50 which is designed and developed specifically for putting and shorter chipping.

Once you have chosen a turf your work is not done yet -now comes the fun part. We have a complete list of accessories that can be added to your facility to make it more complete. This includes but is not limited to: fringe, bunkers, flexible PVC border, landscape pavers, chipping stations, tee boxes and landscaping.
